About Haley

Haley Farrar

I work with individuals, couples, and groups to help them navigate challenging circumstances and strengthen their relationships.

Originally from the United States, I moved to Wellington, New Zealand in 2015 as a Fulbright Fellow.

I'm licensed as a lawyer, but transitioned my focus from traditional law to restorative justice in 2013. Restorative justice provides a way to look at wrongdoing and incidents of harm that just makes sense to me - rather than debating who is right and wrong and seeking to punish, restorative justice helps us both repair and prevent harm.

I provide training, facilitation, and consulting in restorative justice practices to businesses, government agencies, city councils, NGOs, universities, and schools as the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Aspen Restorative Consulting and in partnership with Te Ngāpara Centre for Restorative Practice at Victoria University of Wellington.

Through this work, I've come into contact with many people who were completely capable of handling their own conflict or incidents - they just needed some extra support in finding their way through it. Whether individuals come to me reactively following an incident of harm, or proactively to develop their leadership skills and confidence in decision-making, individual work has enabled me to offer support to people in all areas of their lives. I am currently in training with the Australia and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy to further deepen my practice by offering long term psychotherapy for those wanting to go even deeper into their healing and growth.

I love working with anyone who is curious about pursuing genuine healing and growth in their lives. I approach both life and work with sincerity, compassion, and humor. To me, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone find clarity, understanding, and peace in their life.

In my free time, I enjoy connecting with friends and family, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, gardening, hiking, and traveling.
